Candidate Genes

Candidate gene is mostly present in a candidate chromosomal region. It is identified by studying the protein products of the genes or by genetic association of the gene with the phenotype and linkage analysis to a region of the genome. Study of the SNPs associated with candidate genes is essential to improve our understanding of pathophysiology. This section lists the genes candidate to Type 2 diabetes.
